Salaams,

Sis, I hate to break it to you, but this isn't true :? http://www.snopes.com/politics/gasoline/gasoline.asp tells that the email is just a rumor...I've actually seen the same email for the past few years ;)

Stacyg is correct, as this email as been making its rounds, and is INCORRECT, though it would be great if we had a national or even worldwide boycott, and the prices would come down..I remember when my son was born in 1996, the price of a gallon of unleaded was a whopping 89 cents...

Even if its not true. Its circling around like crazy. If all of us refrained from purchasing gas on May 15th it could still work. [hijabisis]

Assalmau alaikum,

I don't know how true this is or not. But the fact still remains we do need to take a stand. It definetly won't hurt and I sent the suggestion the paper. Maybe the will print it and maybe not. But the only failure in trying is not trying at all.

I think boycotting a certain company or something instead of boycotting a day might work better...If people don't buy gas on May 15th, then they'll just go the next day and sales will be even bigger than a regular day, right? But, if they boycott a company, you'll see that company start to lower the prices of gas to get more customers...what do you all think?

I agree serenity...we do need to take a stand...the prices of gas in the U.S. and many countries are really getting out of hand!

It was actually on the news here, on one of the Detroit channels (NBC 4). That people were actually doing this. We will not be. We run a taxi company. Our livelihoods depend on being able to drive.

It was on the news here too, and they are right - boycotting one day isn't going to change anything. Everyone would just fuel up the day before or the day after so technically we would be spending the same amount on gas. They say the only real way to do this would be for everyone to collectively reduce the amount of gas they use. Walk, bike, or use public transportation or at least carpool as much as possible rather then driving everywhere.
