as Salaamu 'alaykunn wa Rahmatullaahi wa Barakaatuhu ya akhawaat
To all our car loving sisters out there...
What do you prefer to drive? A car with a gear box, ie. stick shift, or a car with an automatic transmission?
And for those who actually have cars, are you driving what you prefer?

Walaikum asslaam warahmatullahu wabrakatahu sis Humayaraa.
In the beginning, when I first got my car...I wanted an automatic.... it didn't happen, now alhamdulillah, I'm not bothered. :D
Insh'Allah as long as I get the kind of car that I am looking for,(when we can finally afford it!) it really doesn't matter to me if it's an automatic or not!

I don't know how to drive a stick
I want to learn but I'm scared I'll screw up the transmission or whatever, so I'm fine with my automatic, alhamdulillah!

I don't know how to drive a stick shift but when i was younger my father always had a stick shift truck and he would let me and my brother take turns shifting gear while he drove and pressed the clutch. Now whenever I'm home he let's my son do it.

Salam, well I had 2 manual cars in uk and when i came to canada I got my mums automatic. It was ok, then i crashed it, so I bought an SUV (kia sportage) thinking it would help cause i crashed in jan, winter months skidded off the road into a lampost. But then i crashed the SUV in dec of same year.. so now I got a manual, and Ive got through one winter alhamdulillah with my ford focus :D and i love it :P makes me feel like im home again, apart from being on the other side of the car obviously.

LOL sis Ammena, that reminds me of the transition I've had to go through here. In Trinidad we use the British system (right hand drive cars driven on the left side of the road) and France uses the American system (left hand drive cars, drive on the right side of the road). I don't know what the French have with roundabouts, but at every intersection where possible, they put a round about intstead of a traffic light. So in addition to having remember which side of the car to get in and which side of the road to drive on, I'm always have to stop and think...wait a minute...which way do I go around this darn thing? Most time I think there's no traffic coming and when I think it's safe to take off, I see something whizzing past, coming from the other direction...(((sigh))).

this was already talked about in another topic so again I drove stick shift since I was 18..non stopped as I will walk if I see automatic car. not comfortable and iM lost without stick shift. no sense of control in all weather. also for sharp turns is better in stick shift. I race too as needed. my hubby and family noticed IM a better driver in stick shift too. told me never drive auto as IM lousy at it.

I am definately with Farah!!! I am clueless on how to drive with a stick, I am so scared, I don't even want to know! lol. So for me, 100% automatic transmission is the way to go!!! I am driving my preferred one! alhamdullilah!
