It come to my atention while I walk around my neighborhood that some people throwed their old clothes. I asked my friend what she did with her daughter small clothes and she said that she put them in garbage [smilie=11281astaghfirullah.gif]

I am personally keep my children used clothes. When I go back to Indonesia I give to my poor family. I even collect some of my friend's children used clothes and keep them so whenever I go back I can always give them away. Those clothes like treasures for some children in Indonesia whose some of them can not effort to buy clothes. I was growing up with simple family. I get clothes twice a year the most. one of for eidul fitri and one for eidul adha.

Just curious, what you do with your children used clothes ???

Assalamu Aleikum Wa Rahmetullahi Wa Barakatuh

There wasn`t enough choices. The most newborn clothes i gave to my friend. She gave it to me when Maryam was born and i had just which i bought in egypt. She gave me a lot. One year later she delivered a little daughter herself. I gave her all she did give to me and the more i had. Now Maryam is already 2 sizes more again Masha ALLAH. The to small ones i will give part of them to a garage sale, part of them to newer mommys. Just 2 pieces go to the collection of Maryam`s special things. Like her bring home outfit.
I can`t stand the waste of everysomething.

Assalamu'alaikum ya Ukht,

I will get my relatives to select whatever they want. The rest I will pack up and usually give to my maid (Filipino previously, now Indonesian) for them to send home.
Sometimes, I put them at my dad's shop where at times the women from Indonesia will come & collect them.

The really bad ones, I will use as rags or simply throw them away... I don't like to give away clothes that's in a bad stage.

Wallahu-alam.

JazakAllah khair....

I give my son's & husbands clothes to the Salvation Army.
Mine on the other hand, would have to go to a Muslim Sister giving the fact that most of my clothes are Abaya's & Jilbabs... [smilie=12biggrin.gif].

My mother used to donate the clothing which we outgrew to children's orphanages.

I don't have any children as yet, but with my own clothes I give away those which are in good condition to other sisters, and those which are in bad condition are used either as cleaning rags, or are thrown away, just like sis Shaikha said.

Dh has a collection of clothing which I dislike. I've been threatening to donate them to the salvation army (of course I'd replace them first), but he has objected so I have left them alone. I seriously cannot stand most of his wardrobe, lol. If I ever get the all clear, I will donate his clothes to the needy men here inshaaAllaah.

Most of our things go to charity. Some will go to family or friends first and then the remainder gets donated.

ASA..

We doca variety of things with the outgrown clothes.

if something is in graet , excellent condition, myself and a few frineds swap clothes, esp the dressy Pakistani salwar kameez, which your child will wear only a few times..

other items get donated to various charities.

some get sent to pakisatn, depending if someone has the availability of space..

if in really bad condition, they get thrown away..

some items. ie socks, white t shirts get used for dusting and polishing!

Well I first see if anyone in the family could use them. Then i ask friends and associates if they need them. After that if no one can use them i give them to the goodwill.

Asalamualekom
With my daughters clothes we sent them to my SIL in Yemen who just had a baby girl about 6 months ago, and with my sons clothes i send them to my baby sister in NZ who just had a baby boy 3 weeks ago (he's a preemie so he doesnt fit the clothes yet, but he will soon enough inshaAllah)

Some i keep for sentimental reasons or for future babies, but i know ill get the ones i send to NZ back if i need them or if they arent passed onto other family. We've always done this.

I am so late on this poll but I was sad to read about old clothes being thrown into the garbage! I tell my kids to take good care of their clothes especially the nice ones they wear on outings so that they will be in good condition when handed down. We usually bring the old clothes/shoes to Pakistan. My mum-in-law does a lot of charity work and knows whom to give them to. The ones that are really worn out, we send to the recyclers/use for crafts/rags.

I was just asking my dh this ? today, lol. I said should we save the baby clothes that are to small or get rid of them. See if we were staying here in the US I would keep them for the next babies bc you know its all expensive but were going to Saudi so is it worth the cost to send, nah I doubt it! You all should have seen teh clothes OF MINE I gave to charity when we moved here to OK. It was all things I had pre-marriage that my dh hated. Brand new clothes with tags (Guess, bebe, Versace, UGHHHHH) and all my shoes with any heal what so ever bc he hates that kind (marc jacobs, aldo, nine west) Ya Allah I think my mom would have a heart attack if she knew I gave all that away, lol..

Masha'Allah I make sure my son has very good quality clothing so when he outgrows them they can usually still be worn. I have a friend who has 3 girls but only one boy. Since he's only 2 years younger than my son I give them to her. I only have one child but I'm sure it must be difficult when you can't pass clothes down to just this one child because he's a different gender. So masha'Allah she's always so grateful to get them.
